Writing Reports

Learning Intention
We are learning to write a report so that we can inform others about living things.

Success Criteria
•I have a title

• I have introduce the living thing by classifying it or saying what it is.

• I have described at least 2 things about the living thing
□Appearance
□Food
□Life Cycle
□Habitat
□Movement
□Behaviour
• I have ended with an interesting fact
• I have a labelled illustration/drawing

Visit the Living Things page and read some animal facts.  Choose one animal to write an information report with mum or dad.

Post your information report here for people to give you feedback.  Remember to check the success criteria (you could leave the illustration out).

 

Family Blogging Afternoon

Welcome!

Today, Wednesday April 24th, Room 3 and 4 have opened their doors and invited some special family members in! We’re here to show our special guests how we use blogging in our class rooms and to give them some tips on how to leave a quality comment.

We’re asking our visitors to tell us – What was school like for you?

When Mrs Buckby and Mrs Egerton went to school there were no computers in classrooms so students had to do a lot of writing. We couldn’t research topics on the internet and things like email, Skype and blogging were not heard of! We definitely didn’t have ipods or ipads to learn with. We had ‘pen-friends’ from different parts of Australia that we would write letters to and post in the mail but it took such a long time to get a letter back. It would have taken even longer to communicate with people in different countries.

This is a picture of the first computer Mrs Buckby’s family had in their home around 20 years ago!

 

At Mrs Egerton’s Primary School, children studied mostly the same things as we do at Holy Family such as sport, library, art, reading, writing.  They also learnt the language Italian. Children enjoyed playing the game ‘Pacman’ on computers.  It was very different to the games that are available today!

 

At Mrs Buckby’s school, play time was full of many exciting games like elastics, hop scotch and monkey bars were popular.  Check out the video below of children playing the game elastics’.

All living things have common features.

Plants and animals live in places, suited to their needs.

All living things have their own life cycle.
